![]() This issue is compounded by the constant enemy respawns. Items and ammo especially seem really scarce in this game so I fall back on my wrench often, but the hit detection is so poor that half the time I'm missing when I feel like I shouldn't. I'm playing on normal difficulty and yet every room is a chore to get through. One name that's frequently mentioned alongside Deus Ex is that of System Shock 2, so that was naturally my next choice for a playthrough.īut while Deus Ex immediately clicked with me, I'm really struggling with System Shock 2 and I need some general advice. It made me want to look into more of the classic immersive sims that I missed out on. I put a link to his short guide down below.Okay, so earlier this year I played the original Deus Ex for the first time and I loved every second of it. I experienced almost no noticeable bugs, had only one crash in a whole playthrough, and the game looked great on my 2K monitor. These mods will lead to a vanilla plus experience where the game is essentially unchanged but textures are scaled up and there are a lot of bug fixes. I also recommend following the guide Mandaloregaming put together in his youtube review for fixing the game with a few mods. ![]() Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who likes IM-Sims, horror, sci-fi, shooters, or RPGs. Also, some of the controls are not great, and there are some issues that can arise from non-viable character builds. Not like I'm on the verge of rage quitting, but my partner did see me a few times mutter at my computer while trying to get off a ladder or make an awkward jump. ![]() Luckily this is only needed for a few items and sections of the game near the end, but my god did it get frustrating at times. Anything that involves controlled jumping is kinda a nightmare to control. However, once you get to maybe Hydroponics, you'll be in the groove. It wasn't too scary but definitely is very creepy and a bit overwhelming at first. The sound and atmosphere is great, the music is a jam, the gameplay is fun, the writing and voice acting is good for the most part (even the bad voice actors have charm), and there are so many options given to the player on how to get through the game. I am glad I played through this highly influential game. ![]()
